Important note

Whale shark season: 1 October – 30 April. Outside those months the whale sharks leave the bay and this tour does not run, so plan your visit within the season.

What the swim is actually like

The ride out is short: twenty to thirty minutes across the bay from Muelle Fiscal to the protected area where the whale sharks come to feed. You board with your snorkel gear already on the boat.

Only five swimmers are allowed in the water at a time, so you get in in small groups and take turns with your guide, with snacks, fresh fruit and drinks on board in between. The whole outing runs two to three hours, and the sightings always depend on the sharks being in the bay that day.
